"Double Funeral Thursday - A double funeral for Mr and Mrs Ralph Elliott Blakeslee, prominent Spartansburg residents who lost their lives in a car-truck accident in Elk County, Monday, will be held at 2 pm Thursday at the Richard Hays Funeral Home in Spartansburg. Rev Joseph Clair of the Church of the Epiphany, Sherwood, Philadelphia, will officiate and burial will be in Rose Hill Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home from 7 to 10 o'clock this evening. The American Chapter of the Order of Eastern Star, of which Mrs Blakeslee was a member, will hold a service at 7:30 o'clock. Mr Blakeslee was a member of Spartan Lodge 372 F&AM, and the lodge will hold a service at the funeral home at 8:30. Mrs Nancy Blakeslee was born on April 13, 1887, in Avis, Clinton County (sic), the daughter of George P and Arie Thompson Lowe. She and Mr Blakeslee were married July 19, 1937. In addition to Eastern Star, she was a member of Sparta Grange, the Mentor Club of Corry and the Friendly Neighbors Club. She leaves two brothers, Donald S Lowe of Avis and Dowe G Lowe of State College, and several nieces and nephews. Mr Blakeslee was a member of a family that settled in the Spartansburg community early in the Nineteenth Century. He was born Dec 27, 1884, in Sparta Township, the son of Herbert and Louise Casey Blakeslee. He was a past master of Spartan Lodge, a member of Clarence Commandery of Corry, other Masonic organizations, and a past master of the Grange. He leaves a niece, Mrs Letta Carlson of Havertown, near Philadelphia, and several cousins."
