Mrs Ida Bell Firth, 79, wife of E F Firth of Spartansburg, passed away at 4:30 o'clock yesterday morning in Corry Memorial Hospital, where she had been a patient since Friday. She had been in poor health for several months. Mrs Firth was born in Sparta township, Nov 3, 1871, a daughter of Joseph Russell and Mary Jane Harrington. She was married to Edgar Frank Firth of Sparta township on Dec 27, 1893. There were eight children: Mrs Gladys Nichols of Chattanooga, TN; Mrs Florence Hampe, deceased; Mrs Elizabeth Squier, deceased; Harry Firth of Spartansburg; Mrs Mary Jane Gragg of Chicago; Mrs Dorothy Spade of Chicago; Mrs Lillian Farrar of Keene, NH; and Frank Firth, Jr, of Spartansburg. Besides her husband and children, Mrs Firth leaves 23 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren. Mrs Firth was an active member of the Methodist church and W S C S, a charter member of Lady Morton Rebekah Lodge, the W C T U, and Sparta Grange No 110. She was a valued correspondent of The Titusville Herald for several years. Friends may call at the Torrey funeral home in Spartansburg...Interment in Rose Hill Cemetery, Spartansburg.
