ALTON J. "SLICK" BERGERON A resident of San Leandro for 48 years passed away January 25, 2003 after a long illness. Dearly beloved husband of Betty Bergeron for 50 years. Loving father of Ginger Dyer and husband, Fred of Florence, Oregon. Dear brother-in-law of Elaine Paugh of San Leandro. Devoted grandfather of Roxanne Saunders of Florida and Michael Gates of Modesto. Also leaves many nieces and nephews. Alton belonged to St. Felicitas Parish, enjoyed fishing, gardening and visiting friends. Former volunteer for Oakland A's, the City of San Leandro Police Department and City Hall, served with the Merchant Marines and U.S. Army. A native of Louisiana. Age 81 years.
