Robert William Stuard, 90 of Abilene, died Tuesday at his home.

Graveside services will be at 10:00 a.m. Friday at the Clyde Cemetery with Don Greenway officiating under the direction of Bailey Funeral Home.

Bob was born September 25, 1917 in Bryan, Texas to Will Ivy and Lela Valentine (McGinty) Stuard.

He was the widower of Jessie Lucille (Brown) Stuard, whom he married on March 11, 1943 in Brownsville, Texas. She preceded him in death on April 18, 1980. They moved to Abilene from Jones County in 1947. Bob was the first to volunteer for the draft in Jones County in World War II and he served in the United States Army in the European Theater. He worked for 28 years as a firefighter with the Abilene Fire Department, retiring in 1979. He was a member of Northside Baptist Church.

Deep appreciation and thanks are given to a very special neighbor and primary caregiver, Sylvia Jimenez and her family. Sylvia was Bob's "Sister in Christ" who truly believes that "Thou should love thy neighbor as thy self". She made it possible for Bob to live his last days at home.

Bob is survived by many close friends and neighbors.

Memorials may be made to Northside Baptist Church, 2474 Westwood, Abilene, Texas, 79603.
