Ruth A. Welch, 87, of Lake George, CO, formerly of Aledo, IL, died Sunday June 1, 2008 at the Sunrise Senior Living in Colorado Springs, CO.

She was born January 9, 1921 in Perryton Township, IL a daughter of Ray and Zella Lemon Crawford. She attended Perryton schools and Aledo High School.

She married James B. Smith, he died in 1950. She later married William H. "Bud" Welch with whom she spent over 40 years with.

In her youth Ruth was a Trick Rider for local area fairs and rodeos. She was a clerk at the former J.C. Penny Store in Aledo, was a waitress at the Oakview Country Club and Phillips 66 Cafèônd was a former member of the Mercer County VFW Post 1571 Auxiliary in Aledo. After leaving Aledo she lived in California and than on to Colorado where Bud was in the park service.

She worked as a waitress and a clerk in Colorado. After retiring in 1982 they became caretakers of 11 Mile Ranch where they lived for over 25 years.

Survivors include her husband; a son Rich (Chris) Smith of Aledo; daughter Marie (Steve) Rapp of Big Sky, Montana; 4 grand- children; and 4 great-grandchildren. Her parents and husband preceded her in death. She took great pride in her home and her family and with her great smile she touched many.

Graveside Services were at 10:00 a.m. Friday at the New Boston Cemetery in New Boston,IL. There was no visitation.
