U.S. Navy veteran of World War II.

Rodney is found in the 1930 census of rural Clayton County, Georgia, at the age of 7. At the time he was living with his parents, George E Floyd, 66, and Eula Floyd, 53. All had been born in Georgia. His father was farming and they were renting a home there at this time. With them were two older sibling sisters, Roxie 18 and Ellen 16. Rodney and Ellen were both attending school.

Soon after the previous census, the family moved, at least for a time to Wardley, in Jefferson Co., GA. They were in Wardley 1935, before moving on to Covington, in Newton County, where they were found in the 1940 census. They were living at that time at 622 Monticello Street with another family of Floyds, his brother John P. Floyd, and his wife and two children. Rodney was now 17 and a Junior in high school, he also apparently was doing some type of part time work. His father, now at 77 was retired. His mother was 59.

Rodney died in the Veteran's Hospital in Dekalb County on August 7, 1988 at the age of 65. His last reported residence was Covington, Georgia.
