DEATH OF MRS. SOLOMON ZEHNER
Mrs. Nancy Jane Zehner, a long and well known resident of Plymouth died at her home on north Michigan street, Sunday morning at 5:20 o'clock, after an illness lasting for several weeks. She was 67 years, 9 months, and 9 days of age, at the time of her death. Deceased had been in poor health for several months and had been confined to her bed for the past six weeks. The daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John Plake, her maiden name was Nancy Jane Plake. Her parents moved to Argos, when she was nine years of age, and conducted the first hotel in that town. The family had previously resided in Rush county Indiana. When thirty-four years of age, she was married to Robert McDonald and resided south of Plymouth. Four children born of this union are living. They are Mrs. Charles Zumbaugh who resides south of Plymouth, Samuel McDonald, and John McDonald of Plymouth, and Eliza, who lives in South Dakota. After the death of Mr. McDonald she was married to Anthony Kichnor. One child which was born, died several years ago. Her last husband, the late Solomon Zehner, died December 6th, 1907. Deceased was a life long member of the Seventh Day Advent Church. She has resided in Plymouth and Marshall county practically all of her life, and was widely known. The funeral was held at the residence Tuesday afternoon, at 1:30 o'clock, conducted by David Van Vactor. Internment at Oak Hill.

Nancy Jane Plake was born March 30, 1843 near Connersville, in Rush County, Indiana. When she was five years old her family moved to Marshall County, and settled near the site of Argos, where she lived until her marriage with Robert McDonald on Nov. 29, 1860. Seven children were born of this union - Ella, Arthur and Lula preceded her to the grave, leaving Alice, Eliza, Samuel and John to mourn the death of a loving mother. Her first husband died on July 26, 1876, at which time the family lived west of the Brownlee Bridge, in Plymouth. On May 17, 1877 she was married to William A. Tichenor, to which union two children were born - Cora and Otto. Cora died when aged sixteen years, and Otto at the age of four years. She lived with Mr. Tichenor until he died on Nov. 17, 1893, of a complication of diseases. On August 14, 1899 she was married to Solomon Zehner and came to Plymouth to live, finally occupying the house of North Michigan street where Mr. Zehner died on Dec. 6, 1907, and where she died on Jan. 8, 1911, at the age of 67 years, 9 months, and 9 days. She had been sick for some months, and during the time was tenderly cared for by her children, the youngest son, John, having made his home with her for some years. She leaves besides the children named three sister - Mrs. Jonas Miller of Los Angeles, Cal., Mrs. Pulaski Wickizer of Culver, and Mrs. Abashia Holloway of Oklahoma, and three brothers - George, John, and Miles Plake all go whom reside in Indiana. Sister Zehner was baptised many years ago, and united with the Church of God at old Antioch, and has ever kept her name with the organisation at that place. Possessed of some remarkable traits of character, she died as she had lived a faithful member of the community - a good woman devoted to the welfare of her children and those about her.
