Funeral services for Edith Molly Bates, 95, will be held at 11 a.m. tomorrow at Yates-Hodge Funeral Home. Rev. Gary Foster will officiate. Burial will be in Woodlawn Cemetery. She died Monday. She was born on November 16, 1893 in Berryville, Arkansas to Harmon and Fanny Angeline (Smith) Littrell. When she was nine years old, she moved to Alva, Oklahoma to live with her older sister, Elizabeth Holland. She married Alexander Nathaniel Roller on November 10, 1910 in Alva, Oklahoma. He died on March 7, 1919. She married Clarence Park Bates on August 25, 1922 in Alva, Oklahoma. They moved to Harrison Flats in 1943. He died on November 12, 1960. She had lived in St. Maries since 1974. She was happiest when she could get all of her family and neighbors together and cook for them. She was a charter member of Indian Springs Community Club. She is survived by her sons, Clarence Dean Bates of Harrison Flats and Emerson Winthrope Roller of Grants Pass, Oregon; her daughter, Irene Cecelian Patton of Elgin, Oregon; her step-son, Lee Bates; nine grandchildren; twenty six great-grandchildren; and nine great-great-grandchildren.
