Gordon C. Turner, 75, Lake Bronson, died at his home, Wednesday, June 3, 1998.

Gordon was born July 14, 1922 in St. Vincent, the son of Robert and Annie (Kothe) Turner. He grew up in St. Vincent and graduated from high school there.

Gordon enlisted in the U.S. Navy in July of 1942. He was awarded the American Theater Campaign Medal, the Asiatic-Pacific Campaign Medal, the Navy Good Conduct Medal and the WWII Victory Medal. In 1947, he completed his military service and settled in Columbus, Ohio where he worked as a police officer.

In 1955, Gordon moved to San Diego and was a police officer there for three years before he left the police force and became an over-the-road truck driver.

He retired in 1978 and moved to Lake Bronson in the 1980's.

Family members include two sons, Jerry (Florence) Turner, Minneapolis,; John and (Connie) Turner, Augusta, GA; a daughter, Linda (Denver) Dwyer, Gibsonton, FL; several grandchildren and great grandchildren; a sister, Flora (Herb) Easter, St. Vincent; and a brother, Raymond (Lena) Turner, Springer, N.M.
