COTTAGE GROVE — A graveside service will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday, June 19, at Taylor-Lane Cemetery in Cottage Grove for Dale Baker of Cottage Grove. He died June 15 of Parkinson's disease at age 89. Visitation will be from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. Wednesday at Smith-Lund Mills Funeral Chapel in Cottage Grove.
Baker was born March 2, 1919, in Witten, S.D., to George and Amelia Hauf Baker. He married Jean Dixon on May 2, 1947, in Cottage Grove.
He served in the Army from 1943 to 1947, including service in the Pacific Theater. He retired in 1981 from the Weyerhaeuser Plywood plant in Cottage Grove.
Survivors include his wife; a son, Marvin of Eugene; a brother, Alvin of Sonoma, Calif.; four grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. A daughter, Ona Rose Bake, died May 24, 2004
