Ellis Updike.
Services for Ellis Updike, 75,
of 303 E. 9th, [Mishawaka, IN]
who died about 10:10 a.m.
Wednesday in St. Joseph Hospital
after a lengthy illness, will be at
2 p.m. Saturday in the Everett
Ballard Funeral Home. Rev. Irvin Mize,
pastor of the Pennway Church of God,
will officiate, and burial will be
in Osceola Cemetery, following
cremation. Friends may call after
11 a.m. Friday in the funeral home.
Updike ws president of the Northern
Indiana Center of the Blind, and
worked previously for Office
Machines Sales and Service.
He was born on Jan. 15, 1906, in
Aurora, [Illinois], and moved here
from Aurora in 1932. In 1967, in
Mishawaka, [IN] he married Nordine
Waltz, and she survives, along with
three daughters, Mrs. James (Diane)
Paczkawski of Mishawaka, Miss Eileen
Updike of Chicago, and Mrs. David
(Joyce) Norwicki of South Bend.:
a son, Lee Updike of Mishawaka:
two stepdaughters, Mrs. Janice
Binney of Grand Rapids [MI] and
Mrs. Christine Scelzo of Dowagic [MI]:
two stepsons, Robert L. Waltz of South
Bend and Donald Waltz of Mishawaka:
nine grandchildren and a great-
grandchild. Memorial contributions
can be made to the Northern
Indiana Center of the Blind.
