GRACE DEXTER (GEVEDON) ADAMS-ABRAMS

Grace Dexter Gevedon Abrams, of West Liberty, died Wednesday, March 1, 2006 at Morgan County Appalachian Regional Hospital in West Liberty at the age of 105 years, 5 months, and 25 days. She was born on Tuesday, September 4, 1900 at Panama, Kentucky, the eleventh child born to Berry and Artie Perry Gevedon.

Grace was united in marriage to Leonard Adams on Thursday, February 17, 1921. To this union, four children were born, Deward, Elmer, Faye, and Jimmy. In later years, she met and married Avery Abrams. She was a born again Christian being saved and baptized in 1921, and had been a member of the Centerville Enterprise Baptist Church for 85 years. She was also a member of Eastern Star Paulina Chapter # 360 for 28 years.

Grace was preceded in death by her parents, Berry and Artie Gevedon; her husbands, Leonard Adams and Avery Abrams; two sons, Deward Adams and Elmer Adams; a daughter, Faye Allen; also ten brothers and sisters. Survivors include one son, Jimmy and wife Juanita; one daughter-in-law, Betty Adams, all of West Liberty. She leaves eight grandchildren, Danny Allen and wife Alma of Ashland, Kentucky, Linda Bentley and husband Wendell of Tennessee, Mike Allen and wife Lise of Coal Grove, Ohio, Richard Adams of Winchester, Tommy Adams and wife Mary of Tennessee, David Adams and wife Sandy of Ezel, Larry Adams of Georgetown, Nancy Speigle and husband Benny of Lexington; 7 great-grandchildren; 2 great-great-grandchildren; several step great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins. She will always be remembered as a loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, and will be missed by all who knew her.

Funeral service was conducted at 1 p.m. Saturday, March 4, 2006 at Potter Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. David Cook officiating.

Burial followed in Flatwoods Cemetery at Woodsbend with Potter Funeral Home of West Liberty in charge of arrangements.

Pallbearers were her grandsons.
