SULPHUR - Funeral services for Ned Abshire, 56, will be at 10 a. m. today, Dec. 21, from St. Theresa Catholic Church in Carlyss. Father John Welch will officiate. Burial with military honors will be in the Mimosa Pines Garden of Memories under the direction of Hixson - Sulphur Memorial Funeral Home. Visitation is 8 - 9: 30 a. m. today in the funeral home. Mr. Abshire died Saturday , Dec. 17, 2005, at his residence . Mr. Abshire was born in Lake Charles on July 15, 1949, to Andrus and Elisa Abshire. Mr. Abshire was a member of the IBEW Union Local 861 since 1968, belonged to the Cursillo for 31 years, where he sat at St. Matthew 's Table. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus Council 8058, where he was the oldest first degree charter member. Mr. Abshire was involved with St. Theresa Catholic Church for 30 years. He was a veteran of the U. S. Army serving in the Vietnam War era. Pallbearers will be Eric Moreau, Ed Bailey, Aaaron Moreau, Damon Abshire, Doug Schultz, Kurt Schultz and Mason Decou. Survivors include his wife, Mary Ardoin Abshire of Sulphur; three daughters, Tina Abshire Moreau and husband Eric of Sulphur, and their children Aaron, Haliegh and Emily Moreau, Sherry Bailey and husband Ed and their children, Ashleigh Stanley, Mason Decou, Justin Dubroc of Fairfax, Va., and daughter, Nedi Abshire and their children , D. J. Lewis and Katlynn Celestine of Sulphur; brothers , Jimmie Abshire and wife Ruth of Moss Bluff, and Michael Abshire of Sulphur; sisters, Brenda Schultz and husband J. D., Ruby O ' Neal and husband David, Dianna Smith and husband Jim, Roberta LeDoux and Marilyn George and husband Jeff, all of Sulphur; and eight grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Andrus " Rufus " Abshire; and one brother, Allen Abshire. Words of comfort may be shared with the Abshire family at www. mem. com.
