Charlie was born and raised in Fort Deposit, Lowndes County, Alabama. He came from a large family. He was the son of James Washington Burdeaux and Susan Ryals Burdeaux. After his mother died in 1901, his father soon remarried. Charlie and his brother Samuel (Cliff) decided to move to Mississippi. They met and married the Hudson sisters. (Cliff married Susan Eliza Hudson). Charles married Bertha M. Hudson on Apr 2, 1905 in Harrison County, MS. They built a home in Lyman, Harrison County MS. They had 12 children.(6 boys 6 girls). Most of their children stayed in the Mississippi and Louisiana area. A couple of them moved their families to Texas in the Harris County area. He was my maternal grandfather.
He was a farmer most of his life but in later years he retired a janitor at the Harrison County MS Courthouse.
