Mrs. Irene Carter, 68, of Lynn Haven, Fla. went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, May 1, 2008 at her home. She was born in Lynn Haven, Fla. to the late Albert Goodwin and Jennie Goodwin Mills. She was a lifelong resident of this area and a member of the House of Prayer Church for many years. She was a devoted Christian who loved to study her Bible, sing in the choir and enjoyed life to the fullest. She loved her family and friends and will be greatly missed. She is survived by her loving husband: Rev. Buford Carter; two sons: Rocky Carter and wife Lisa, Steve Carter and wife Natalie; three daughters: Debra Dick and husband Marty, Janice Woods and husband Mark, and Pamela Kelley; her adopted daughter: Annette Carter; seventeen grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; five sisters: Dorothy Thurman and husband Olan, Ruby Countryman, Marie Finley and husband Jessie, Patsy Miller and husband Wilford, Audrey Burns and husband Paul; and one brother: David Mills and wife Diane. She was preceded in death by a daughter: Joann Carter. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M. on Monday, May 5, 2008 at House of Prayer Church with Rev. Pete Boyette, Rev. Lewis Rogers and Rev. T.A Green officiating. Interment will follow at Lynn Haven Cemetery. Pallbearers are: Jeremy Kelly, Adam Dick, Michael Dick, Jonathan Woods, Zack Stuhr and Jared Crum. The family will receive friends from 3:00 to 5:00 P.M. on Sunday, May 4, 2008 at Heritage Funeral Home. A special thank you to the Bay Medical Center SICU staff, Dr. Merle Stringer, Dr. Doug Stringer, Dr. David Hurst, Dr. Jigish Patel, National Health Care and Covenant Hospice for the wonderful care given to our wife, mother and grandmother.
