Joseph D. McGuire aged 75 years died at his home in Harristown on Friday March 24. The deceased had been ill for two weeks with a stomach trouble and several days ago his family fully realized that death must come in a short time. The advanced age of the deceased made it impossible for him to rally against the weakening effects of his malady.

He was a native of Pennsylvania where he was born in 1818. With his parents he came to Illinois about 1820 going to St.Claire county, In that county he was wedded to Miss Catherine Kalbert on Sept. 3,1840. their golden wedding was celebrated more than two years ago.

In 1855 the deceased came to Macon county and took up his residence in Harristown township where he has since resided devoting the greater part of his time to farming but the past few years he has lived in the village of Harristown.

He is survived by his wife and eight children. the sons are Benjamin McGuire of Decatur, John of Webb City, Iowa, Lyman of Claifornia James A. of Eureka, Ill,T J. Harristown and Ed McGuire of Dennison Texas. The daughters are Mrs. R.M. Hamilton of Harristown and Mrs. J.P. Darst of Peoria.

No funeral arrangements have been made but most of his children will attend the services.
