The photo that serves at the primary on this Memorial is one with my Grandmother, Anna, at the center of the picture. From left to right, the following people are included: me (Anastasia, born as "Judy"), my Grandfather (George H. Schmidt), my Father (Herman Howard Schmidt), Grandma, Dolores (Floyd Schmidt's Wife), my Brother (James William Allen Schmidt as a toddler), Floyd Schmidt (my Uncle), and Floyd's and Dolores' adopted Daughter, Cindy. As of this re-writing on October 15, 2021, only myself, Dolores, Floyd and Cindy remain alive. Before today, I had only ONE picture of my beloved Grandmother--who helped to raise me after my parents divorced--and NONE of my birth family. I was shocked, but delighted, to discover this picture held by a first cousin of mine.

Born to: Cora Alice Smith and James Adley Miller at Pleasants County, West Virginia. Anna's brothers were Edward, Martin and William Miller.

Anna's father, James Adley deserted Cora and her children after killing a man in a barroom fight in WV and fled to Texas. Some years later, he came back to West Virginia, taking one of his sons back to Texas with him, but leaving the rest of the family in WV. He is incorrectly listed on the 1920's Federal Census in Texas as either being "divorced" or "widowed".

Anna's Mother, Cora, later married Arius Hupp and then George Ferrell, the later with which Cora was buried in West Virginia. Anna was, to a great extent, raised by Mr. Ferrell and Cora. Mr. Ferrell was said to have given his step-daughter music lessons and to have provided well for her.

Anna Edna was married to George Howard Schmidt (son of William Schmidt and Annie "Lucinda" Haught Schmidt who are buried at Knob Hill, a.k.a., Point Pleasant Cemetery in Washington County) on July 20, 1935. She is buried in the newer cemetery in Newport, Ohio with George.

Four children were born from this marriage: Herman Howard Schmidt (who predeceased Anna in a bus vehicular accident in January 1988 in Pennsylvania), Thelma Lea Schmidt (died as an infant and is buried in Knob Hill a.k.a. Point Pleasant Cemetery in Washington County, Ohio) Hilda Mae Schmidt, and Floyd Fritz Schmidt.
