Pauline Mills Damron was a veteran school teacher in Mingo County, West Virginia.

She was born May 5, 1917 in Wayne County, West Virginia. Her parents were Grover Cleveland Mills and Della Spence Mills.

Paline married George Hoadley Damron and they were the parents of two sons, Charles Hoadley Damron, nicknamed "Neep", born March 18, 1944; and Irvine Keith Damron, called "K.O.", born July 27, 1947. Charles later studied law and worked at a practice in Charleston. K.O. would take over his family's grocery business after the death of his dad, and years later served as vice-president of the West Virginia Coal Reclamation Association.

Her husband, Hoadley, died of a heart attack in 1972, shortly after announcing his candidacy for a seat in the West Virginia House of Delegates. Both of Pauline's sons would venture into politics and hold seats in the state legislature for a number of years.

She earned her her Bachelors and Masters Degrees in Education from Marshall University, and taught in West Virginia public schools for 41 years, but continued to work as a substitute teacher for another decade after retiring.

In the early 1990's, Pauline sold the Lenore, West Virginia house in which she shared with her husband and had raised her sons. She purchased a home in Hurricane, West Virginia between the cities of Huntington and Charleston to be close to her children and grandchildren.

In 2002, Pauline experienced a terrible loss with the death of her oldest son, Charles. A month prior to his death, he had slipped on an icy sidewalk at his home and suffered a head injury. He was in a coma from that time until his death.

On December 9, 2003, Pauline was a patient at Putnam General Hospital in Winfield, West Virginia. It was there that her life came to an end at the age of 86.

A visitation was held a couple of days after her death at the church she attended in Putnam County, Forrest Burdette Memorial United Methodist Church. The following day, December 13, 2003, her funeral was conducted at the United Methodist Church, in Kermit, West Virginia where she had been a longtime member.

Pauline survived her husband by 31 years. She was buried alongside Hoadley Damron at Mountain View Memory Gardens, in Maher.
