Robert Bruce Doyle, 80, of Martinsville died on Saturday, June 21st, 2008 at the Morgan Hospital & Medical Center.

He was born on August 1, 1927 in Putnam County, Indiana, to the late Bruce Albert and Velma Clara (Mundy) Doyle.

In 1950 he married Ann Darlene (Padgett) Doyle. She preceded him in death in 1982.

He retired in 1980 from Allison's Detroit Diesel in Indianapolis after 30 years as an inspector.

He was a member of the Martinsville Baptist Tabernacle where he had served as deacon, trustee, Sunday school teacher, bus captain and sang in the church choir.

From July 25, 1945 through July 30, 1948 he served with the U.S. Navy during WWII as an Aviation Electrician's Mate, 2nd Class.

He was an avid outdoorsman and also enjoyed classical music, playing the piano and reading his Bible.

Survivors include three sons, Bruce Eric Doyle of Indianapolis, Mark Alan Doyle of Monrovia and Rodney Lee Doyle of Martinsville; one daughter, Deborah Anne Haywood of Martinsville; one sister, Clara Belle Julius of Southport; eight grandchildren, Stephanie Sue Riker, Adam Lee Doyle, Robert Andrew Doyle, Benjamen Michael Doyle, Todd Aaron Doyle, Emily Ann Doyle, Sean Timothy Doyle and Tyler Bruce Marshman; and six great grandchildren.

He was also preceded in death by two brothers, James and Patrick Doyle.

He will be laid to rest in New South Park Cemetery.
