"Dorothea M Nichols, 80, of Spartansburg, RD 2, died Friday, Dec 29, 1995, in Corry Memorial Hospital. Mrs Nichols was born Dec 12, 1915, in Spartansburg, a daughter of the late Chris and Iva Jerome Maker. She had been a lifelong resident of Spartansburg where she was raised and educated. Along with her husband, she had owned and operated a dairy farm on Sundback Road until his death in 1975. She had also been employed as a school bus driver in the Spartansburg area in the 1950s and 1960s and was the head housekeeper and cook for the Sundback family in Spartansburg. Mrs Nichols was a member of the First Baptist Church in Spartansburg. She was also a member of the Friendly Neighborhood Club in Spartansburg and enjoyed camping and swimming. Her hobbies included ceramics and sewing. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Clarence E 'Pete' Nichols on March 10, 1975. They were married Jan 16, 1935, in Clymer, NY. Also preceding her in death was a son, LeRoy Nichols on July 6, 1964, and a great-grandson, Paul A 'Skeeter' Blakeslee on Sept 5, 1979. She is survived by three daughters, Mrs Paul G (Doris) Blakeslee of Corry, Mrs Gary (Janet) Driggs and Mrs Virginia 'Ginger' Terrill, both of Spartansburg; a son, Frank I Nichols of Spartansburg; a sister, Mrs Philip (Kathryn) Northrop of Spartansburg; 13 grandchildren; 31 great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren. Friends may call at the Bracken Funeral Home in Spartansburg...and attend a funeral service there on Sunday at 2 pm. Rev Daniel Potter, pastor of the First Baptist Church in Spartansburg, will officiate the funeral service. Interment will be in Rose Hill Cemetery."
