Neil W. Bennin, 62, of Sheboygan Falls, passed away Sunday, June 22, 2008, at Aurora Sheboygan Memorial Medical Center . He was born in Sheboygan on December 12, 1945, a son of the late William and Jean (Burdick) Bennin.
Neil grew up in Spring Valley (Town Meeme), attending St. Fidelis grade school and was a 1964 graduate of Kiel High School. During his senior year, Neil was in the Naval Reserve, attending Boot Camp after graduation.
On January 21, 1967, Jeanelle Lenz and Neil were united in marriage at St. James U.C.C. in Spring Valley.
For eleven years, Neil was employed at the Kohler Company, later working for the Sheboygan County Highway Department as a heavy truck mechanic, retiring in 2002 after 24 years of service. Currently Neil was a member of Immanuel United Church of Christ where he had been an elder and deacon.
Neil had several hobbies and interests, including being a Big Brother, a H.O. Model Railroad enthusiast, Model Airplanes, collecting comic books and his favorite cartoon character, Sylvester. He also enjoyed gardening, planting trees, woodworking and antiquing. Neil loved traveling, scuba diving and was a good dancer. His dogs were special to him, and his constant companions, Honey, Harry and Lady. Neil was most proud of his 1930 Model A Ford Coupe, which he restored from the ground up. Since he was 12, Neil's dream car was a Corvette. That dream came true in April of this year when he took delivery of his 2008 Roadster.
