For the Observer.
At at meeting of the Scotch Greys, held at Fort Caswell, N.C., Dec. 12th, 1862, Lt. J. S. McArthur acting as chairman, the following preamble and resolutions were adopted:
Whereas, God has seen fit to call from time to eternity, our friends and fellow soldiers, W. B. B. Thompson, W. J. Bracey, and Corp'l N. P. McArthur:
Resolved 1st, That we bow with humble resignation to this dispensation of His providence, knowing that He doeth all things well.
Resolved, 2d, That in the deaths of our comrades our company has lost three of her most efficient members---our country gallant defenders, and the families of which they were members, noble sons.
Resolved 3r, That from this affliction we take a kind admonition from our Heavenly Father, to "keep our lamps trimmed and our lights burning," "for in such an hour as ye think not the Son of man cometh."
Resolved 4th, That a copy of these resolutions be transmitted to the bereaved families,---and to the N.C. Presbyterian and Fayetteville Observer, for publication.
