Mr. Cooper died June 24, 2008, in a local nursing home.
He was born to the late Wylie and Lena Burt Cooper and served in the Army Air Corps during World War II in the South Pacific. He retired as a switchman from Cotton Belt Railroad after 30 years and owned and operated Roto-Rooter Sewer Cleaning Service in Tyler from the late 1940s until 1978. He was a Master Mason at St. Johns Lodge No. 53 in Tyler, and a 32nd degree Mason at Scottish Rite, Dallas.
Survivors include his wife of 61 years, Ortha May Wilson Cooper, Tyler; son, Paul Michael Cooper, Tyler; daughter, Nancy Elaine Sparkman, Tyler; four grandchildren; five great-grandchldren; nieces; nephews; and other relatives.
Family will receive friends 6-8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
