Alvin Chester Butcher, retired farmer and oil field driller, passed away on Wednesday, June 18, 2008, in the Stillwater Medical Center at the age of 91 years.The son of the late Fred Butcher and Lillie Johnson Butcher, Alvin was born on Oct. 18, 1916, in Ingalls, where he was raised and educated in Ingalls.He was united in marriage to Waunita Aleene Dawes on April 15, 1938, and to this union three children, Rosalie, Fred and Nila were born.Alvin will be remembered for his passion of farming/ranching and the many years of working in the oil field. Alvin enjoyed fishing, camping and spending time with his family and friends. He was a member of the Assembly of God Church of Yale. He had served on the Ingalls Cemetery Board for several years.He is survived by his wife of over 70 years, Aleene, of the home; two children, Fred Butcher and his wife, Linda, of Yale and Nila Williams and her husband, Gene, of Maramec; one sister, Rose McGinty of Stillwater; nine grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren and several nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one daughter, Rosalie Butcher Raper; one brother, Melvin Butcher; two sisters, Bessie Boyle and Bonnie James; one grandson, David Williams; and one great-granddaughter, Leslie Swart. Funeral services will be held Saturday at 2 p.m. in the First United Methodist Church of Yale with Brother Michael Dersham and Pastor John Marks officiating. Burial will follow in the Ingalls Cemetery.
