Aunt Viola was my Dad's sister. She was the second of three girls born to Minnie Franke and Henry Schumacher of Reed City, Michigan. The girls were Antoinette, Viola, and Minnie. Her Dad, Henry, entered eternal life in 1904. Minnie then married Louis Erbes on April 17, 1907. They had Russell, my Dad, Esther, and little Marie Doris, who was born on October 11, 1920. Marie entered eternal life as a little angel of almost two months on December 9, 1920.

Viola Schumacher married Lewis Brokaw on May 3, 1924. They had three children: Doris, Katherine "Kay," and John "Jack." Lou entered eternal life in the fall of 1962. Viola later married John Teeple who preceded her in death.

Obituary:

Viola Mary (Brokaw) Teeple, of Jackson, Michigan, and Dade City, Florida, entered eternal life on Sunday, May 19, 1996. She was 95 years old. She was a current resident of the Jackson Friendly Home.

Viola is survived by her daughters, Doris Tylutki, Katherine (Bob) Burns; a son, John (Carolyn) Brokaw; eight grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and three great-great grandchildren. She is also survived by a sister, Esther Schroeder of Flint. She was preceded in death by her parents, Henry and Minnie (Schumacher) Erbes, and her husbands, Lewis Brokaw and John Teeple; brother, Russell Erbes, and two sisters, Minnie Yek, and Antoinette Baderschneider.

Viola was a member of the Trinity Lutheran Church of Jackson, Michigan, and Our Savior Lutheran Church of Zephyrhills, Florida. She was a State Department Commander of the D.A.V. Auxiliary from 1955 to 1956, and a lifetime member of the William Sparks Auxiliary No. 10.

Visitation: Monday, May 20, 1996, 7-9 p.m. and Tuesday, May 21,1996, 3-5 and 7-9 p.m.

Funeral Services: Wednesday, May 22, 1996, at 1:00 p.m. at Trinity Lutheran Church with Pastor Allen Lunneberg officiating.

Memorials may be made to Trinity Lutheran Church or the charity of choice.
