Ardella Mae Grant

Ardella Mae Grant, eldest daughter of Wilson and Elma S. (Baughan) Johnson was born on May 23, 1864 and departed this life August 14, 1944 age 80 years, 2 months and 22 days.

January 26, 1884 she was united in marriage to Thomas J. Grant, to this union four children were born. Three sons and one daughter.

The husband preceded her in death October, 1914 and one son Harry four year later. Those left to mourn her passing are Hartley and Bert C. Grant of Bellefountaine, Ohio, Carrie Bishop of East Liberty, Ohio. Twenty-three grandchildren and twenty-five great grandchildren, also four brothers Pearl Johnson of West Liberty, Ohio; Burt of Moffit, N. Dakota; Ross of Peebles, Ohio and Glen of Urbanna, Ohio and many more relatives and friends.

She was later united in marriage to Jessie Franklin Sherwood in 1928, this union was broken nine years later by the death of Mr. Sherwood, whose four children Rev. Jason Sherwood; Euphemia Conrad; Naomi Coe and Ruth Cole also mourn her passing.

Mrs. Sherwood spent most of her life in or near North Lewisburg, Ohio. She was very devoted to her family and friends and even in her suffering had a smile of welcome for them.

All of her life as long as her health would permit she was an active member in the church.

Of her life much may be said in praise. Mrs. Sherwood was the embodiment of all womanly virtues, a devoted Christian, a true friend, and at all times a staunch advocate of the right and now a saint in glory.
