John Vail, well-known citizen of Cordova passed away rather suddenly about 5 o'clock yesterday morning. He had been at work as usual the day previous and his death was sudden. More particulars of his life will be supplied in the succeeding issue.

An Old Settler Passes
John W. Vail of Cordova passed away quietly of apoplexy the morning of October 1, 1924 at the age of 71 years, 4 months and 8 days.
The deceased was born at Gilead, Indiana, May 22, 1853. He moved with his parents to Faribault, Minn., in 1854, later moved to Owatonna. On April 1, 1870 at the age of 17 he came to Cordova where he resided until his death.
On December 25, 1880 he was united in marriage to Lydia Repp. Three children were born to them: Emma Hunt of Foley, Milton of Cordova and Edward of Le Sueur Center. Besides his wife and three children there are left to mourn his death, five grandchildren, three sisters: Katherine Kindall of Hackensack, May Peckham of Marcus, Wash., and Ella Green of Staples; also three brothers: William and Fred of Bigfork and Frank of Cohasset, an uncle, Isaac, of Faribault.
Funeral services were held at the First Episcopal church of Cordova Oct. 3rd at 2:30, following a short service at the home. Rev. Johnson of St. Peter officiating. The body was interred in Lake Gorman cemetery.
The deceased will be sadly missed in the community as he was a respected and useful friend to all.
