Mrs. Belle Metzger, 67, until a few months ago a resident of Lafayette, died at 1:15 am Wednesday at Luna Pier, Mich. where she had made her home for the past three months. Mrs. Metzger had been ill for more than a year. Born in Alabama, she was married in that state to Martin Metzger, who died in 1943. She had lived in Lafayette since 1939.
Surviving are four daughters, Mrs. Almeda Rhodes, California; Mrs. Roxie Benson and Mrs. Mary Belle Rolland, Luna Pier, and Mrs. Dora Hattrup, Lafayette, and four sons, Cpl Alfred R Metzger, Army stationed at Luna Pier; Martin L Metzger, and George E Metzger, Cleveland, OH, and Jerry Paul Metzger, Sr., Lafayette. A step-son, Capt Charles Lasser, Army, stationed in California also survives. The body is to be brought to Lafayette for burial.
Note: Charles Lasser is not a step son but her own son.
