James W. McCarthy, 64, foreman at the Ogdensburg airport for the past two years, died at 3:30 this morning at his home, 822 State St, Mr. McCarthy had been confined to his home for the past several months by ill health.

Born in Ogdensburg, March 8, 1874, he was the son of the late Thomas and Jane Delister McCarthy.

He spent his entire life in this city where he was well known, For 12 years Mr. McCarthy managed the Sample Shoe store located on Ford St. and with the discontinuance of that store became connected with the shoe department of the Surprise Store.

Surviving besides his wife, the former Miss Mary Doyle of this city, are two daughters, Mr, E. O. LaPerche of Albany and Mrs, Fred Lawrence of Oils city; four sons, Stanley, Jay and Norman, all of Detroit, and Thomas of Ogdensburg one brother, Darcy of this city; two sisters, Miss Mary McCarthy and Mrs. George Moyer, both of Dayton, Ohio, and several grandchildren and nieces.

Mr. McCarthy was a devout member of St. Mary's Cathedral parish. Funeral arrangements, in charge of the Lalonde Funeral Service, are incomplete.
