Her parents were Jesse and Emma Wolf. Lydia married Leroy S. House in 1870 at Delhi, Delaware County, Iowa. Two children of this marriage were: Jesse Eugene House married Minnie L. (_____); Ralph Emerson House. Ralph was a Professor of Romance Languages at Iowa University and studied in France, Germany, Spain and Italy for four years. He also taught at Chicago Uiveristy, John Hopkins & Minnisota University.

Her husband, Leroy, served during the Civil War: 3rd Indpt. Battery, Light Artillery Reg. Iowa. He was a lawyer and a merchant in Delhi, Delaware County, Iowa. Leroy & Lydia homesteaded in Pleasant Grove Township, Burle County, South Dakota and filed for a Civil War Pension there on 16 March 1890. Lydia filed as a widow for his Civil War Pension on 16 September 1910.
