Roger B. Amos

Roger Bailey Amos, 73, of Rockport passed away June 12, 2005, at his residence.

He was born Aug. 12, 1931, in Wood County, a son of the late John S. and Iris Bailey Amos.

Roger was a graduate of Parkersburg High School and a 1951 graduate of West Virginia University. He retired in 1994 after 33 years of service as a sanitarian for the Mid-Ohio Valley Health Department. He enjoyed farming and going to auctions to buy antiques.

Surviving are his wife of 53 years, Mildred E. Ball Amos; two sons and their wives, Michael Lee and Ruth Amos of Lubeck and Roger David and Terri Amos of Williamstown; four grandchildren, Deborah and Stephen Amos of Lubeck and Benjamin and Claire Amos of Williamstown; and two sisters, Charity Gray of New Hampshire and Mary Wigal of Belleville.

In addition to his parents, Roger was preceded in death by two children, Robert Patrick Amos and Clarice Diane Amos; one brother, Charles Berkley Amos; and one sister, Winifred S. Rose.

Funeral services will be 11 a.m. today at the Lambert-Tatman Funeral Home, Pike Street, south Parkersburg, with Pastor Randy Kochersperger officiating. Interment will follow at the Limestone Cemetery at Rockport.
