Ruth Alta (Gould) Wilson was born Oct. 9, 1917, 10 miles west of Cleo Springs, Okla., the daughter of Samuel Kay Gould and Ethel Ione (Webster) Gould, and departed this life on Saturday, May 10, 2008, in the Integris Bass Baptist Health Center.

She was raised in the Cheyenne Valley area and attended Golden Valley Rural School and Cheyenne Valley School.

On June 1, 1936, she and Glen Wilson were married in Alva and lived in Cheyenne Valley from 1937 until 1942, at which time they moved to Cherokee, Okla. Ruth worked at TG&Y from 1952 until 1960, first as a bookkeeper and then as an assistant manager. From 1965 until 1986, she worked at Cherokee High School Cafeteria as head cook, a job she was proud to do because of her contact with the students.

Ruth was preceded in death by her husband, Glen; her father, Samuel Kay Gould; her mother, Ethel Webster Gould; and two sisters, Ruby Proffitt and Marion Evans David.

Ruth was baptized with her father and son by the Rev. Keller in 1946 and became a member of the First Christian Church. She was involved at her church with the Promise Group and Christian Women's Fellowship. Ruth was a member of the Rebekah Lodge for over 45 years and was Past Noble Grand. She loved to knit, crochet, and read. She also enjoyed being with her children, grandchildren, and friends.

Surviving Ruth are her children, Sterling G. Wilson of Paris, Texas, Glenda R. Stuckey and husband Charles of Ponca City, Okla., and Linda Lou Turner and husband John of San Antonio; her grandchildren, Cinda L. Lockhart and husband Barry, Karl G. Stuckey and wife Cindy, John S. Turner and wife Kasey, L. Erik Stuckey and wife Kerri, Kelly D. Turner and wife Diane, and Emily R. Folsom and husband Nathan; and her great-grandchildren, Hollie C. Lockhart, Hannah R. Lockhart, Heather M. Lockhart, Makenna M. Stuckey, Joshua C. Stuckey, Gwendolyn Anna Turner, Tyler G. Stuckey, Haley D. Stuckey, Benjamin Turner, and Lucas Turner.
