Mrs. Dorothy Spainhour Blakley, 92, a resident of Thomasville, NC, passed away early Sunday morning, May 11, 2008, at her home. Born in Forsyth County on April 15, 1916, she had made this area her home for her entire life. She was a retired employee of Thomasville Furniture Industries. She was a member of Southside Baptist Church. An artistically creative person, she enjoyed painting farm and country scenes as well as flowers and birds. Some of her artwork appeared on cabinetry made by TFI. She was happiest, however, when surrounded by her family. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Ernest Webb Blakley in July of 1986. Surviving are her daughter, Judy B. Elliott and husband Jack of Thomasville and son, Rev. Ronald Blakley and wife Linda of Trinity, grandchildren, Sherry Elliott, Jack Elliott Jr. and wife Nancy, Angela Blakley, and Kevin Blakley and wife Amanda, one great grandson, Zachary Scott Elliott. Funeral services will be on Tuesday at 2:00 PM at Southside Baptist Church with Rev. Mike Ester officiating. Burial will follow at Holly Hill Memorial Park Cemetery.
