Devoted father and husband. Worked in the shipyards in Portland Oregon before enlisting in Marine Corp in WWI, from which he received an honorable discharge. Played baseball on the Eddyville Oregon community team. Enlisted in the United States Marine Corps, September, 1918.
Married Gertrude Alma Wischnofske April 21, 1921 in Corvallis Oregon. Brought WWII orphans Bob, Sue and Kay from Denmark in 1947. Was a founding member of Peace Lutheran church in Philomath Oregon. Enjoyed his life as a logger/farmer at Blodgett Oregon where he and wife Gertrude built their own house and barn. Moved to Corvallis so Bob & Sue could go to school 'in town'. He built their house there too and had a large indoor heated swimming pool installed behind the house. He took his family on annual road trip vacations to destinations such as Palm Springs CA, Roswell NM and Corpus Christi TX which provided a lifetime of wonderful memories. He was loved and admired by all who knew him, and well known as a hard working and honest man.
He was the son of Adolph & Amanda (Christiansen) Wehnert and half brother of Bertha (Wehnert) Hunt.
I love you Dad!
