W. Blake Johnston of Waco, a retired Air Force lieutenant colonel and a former Tribune-Herad guest columnist, died Tuesday in Waco. He was 72.

Graveside servies: Moore Cemetery, Chaplai Guadalupe Rodriquez officiating.

Mr. Johnston was born August 19, 1920 in Wichita Falls and moved to Waco in 1957. He served two tours of duty in the Far East during World War II and also took part in the Berlin Air Life. He retired in 1964.

Mr. Johnston graduated from Texas State Technical College in Waco and the University of Central Texas in Killeen.

Survivors: wife, Dorothy M. Johnston; a son, Stephen B Johnston of Freeport; a daughter, Laura Susan Wilson of Allen; two sisters, Mollie B Johnston of Waco and Janice Maddux of Tipton, OK; five grandchildren, and two nieces.
