Belle, was the daughter of Jacob Wright & Sarah Caroline PALMER Sanders. She was born in Alcorn County, Mississippi.
Sometime after the death of her dad on December 12, 1881, she & her family moved to Hunt County, Texas & then eventually to Upshur County, Texas where they permanently settled.
After becoming engaged to Rufus Anderson Mayfield, they waited 7 years before getting married. They were married around about 1897. To this union, 7 children were born, Gracie on December 4,1898, Twins Bertha & Burton on October 30, 1900, Sanders in 1902, Maggie Ellen on September 23, 1906, Nina Mae on July 20, 1909, & Mildred, born August 08, 1912. Sadly, 3 of their children were lost at an early age, Gracie & Burton on September 12, 1901 & Sanders in 1918, at the age of 16, died in an accident.
A loving wife & mother, Belle dedicated her life to the caring & raising of her family. She was also an artist in her spare time.
Belle, was residing in Fort Worth, Tarrant County, Texas, when she passed away on June 1, 1950. She was buried next to her husband in the Shady Grove Cemetery, Shady Grove, Upshur County, Texas.
