Dwight H. Chapel enlisted in Company I of the Reorganized Third Michigan Infantry on September 10, 1864, for 3 years service, at age 17. He mustered into Federal service on September 15, 1864, and was transferred to Company H of the Reorganized Fourth Michigan Infantry on October 10, 1864. Dwight was discharged to date of June 15, 1865.
