Norfolk Businessman
NORFOLK -- Walter Irving Priest II, 71, of 1215 Rockbridge Ave., a native of Norfolk and the widower of Anne Patterson Priest, died Friday in a hospital.
Mr. Priest was a founding partner of Priest Electronics Inc. He had retired in 1977. He graduated from Maury High School and attended the Norfolk Division of the College of William and Mary.
He served as a Navy chief warrant officer from 1940 to 1946. He was a member of the Pyramid Club, Norfolk German Club and the Norfolk Yacht and County Club.
Survivors include three daughters, Ann R. Priest and Susan P. Bechelli, both of Richmond, and Cecilia P. Stanfield of Norfolk; three sons, Walter I. Priest III of Bena, Va., and Joshua P. Priest and Johnathan W. Priest, both of Norfolk; three sisters, Margaret P. Wilkinson of Norfolk, elizabeth P. Stevenson of Baltimore and Anne P. Baker of Madisonville, Ky.; a brother, Fenton F. Priest Jr. of Virginia Beach; and seven grandchildren.
The funeral will be held at 1 p.m. Monday in Sacred Heart Catholic Church by the Rev. Vincent Connery. Burial will be in Forest Lawn Cemetery. The family will be at H.D. Oliver Funeral Apartments from 7 to 8 p.m. Sunday.
