My Mother, Mary Duxbury, was born on May 9, 1914, as Mary Noonan, to Michael J. and Catherine (Cavanagh) Noonan. Both were natives of Ireland, who emigrated in 1907 and 1902, respectively. She was born in Manhattan, NY. The oldest of three children. Jospeh (b-1915) and Catherine (b-1919) were her brother and sister. She attended Cathedral High School (the High School of St. Patrick's Cathedral) before dropping out to attend business school. She was a legal secretary, when she met, and, later, married my Father, George Duxbury, on May 9, 1943 at Holy Spirit Church, Bronx, NY. He was shipped overseas to the War in Europe in October, 1943, and, was there for the duration of WWll.They had two daughters, Mary Anne (b-1949) and Kathleen (b-1950). They lived in the Bronx until 1959, when they moved to Ridgewood, N.J. She worked part-time at Orbach's Department store, at the time of her husband's, George, death in 1975. She was still living in the same house in Ridgewood, when she passed away at the age of 90 years, in April of 2005. She is survived by their two daughters, 5 grandchildren and 1 great-grandchild. She is dearly missed.
