John Shaker passed away Wednesday evening at his home, 1232 Adams Street, at the age of 67 years. He was born April 27, 1870, at Madison, Wis.
He is survived by his wife; three daughters, Mrs. James Roberts, Route 1, La Crosse; Mrs. Gilbert Harris of La Crosse and Mrs. Red Teed of Minneapolis, Minn; two sons, Emil Shaker of West Chicago, Ill., and George Shaker of La Crosse; two sisters, Mrs. Frank Smith and Mrs. Joe Benish; and one brother, Jake Shaker, all of Hillsboro, Wis.
Funeral services will be held Saturday at 2 p.m. at the Dahl funeral home, the Rev. A. J. Niebruegge officiating. Interment will be made in Woodlawn cemetery.
Friends may call at the funeral home Friday evening.

John Shaker, 67, a former resident of Hillsboro, died Wednesday, April 6, in La Crosse. He had been in poor health for several months. Funeral services were held Saturday afternoon, April 9, at two o'clock from the Dahl Funeral Home. The Rev. A. J. Niebriegge officiated. Interment was in Woodlawn Cemetery.
John Shaker, son of Wencil and Josephine Shaker, was born April 27, 1870, near Madison, Wisconsin. The family later moved to the town of Hillsboro, locating on a farm near the village of Dilly. Here Mr. Shaker grew to manhood and in pioneer days helped his father clear land.
He was united in holy wedlock to Miss Anna Fanta. To this union were born six children: Frances (Roberts), the eldest daughter, who died twenty-four years ago as the result of burns; (Ella) Mrs. Ren Teed of Minneapolis; (Agnes) Mrs. James Roberts; (Bessie) Mrs. GIlbert Harris; and George Shaker, all of La Crosse; and Emil Shaker of West Chicago, Illinois.
Mr. Shaker spent most of his life in and around Hillsboro. A few years ago he moved to La Crosse where he resided until the time of his death. He was a kind, industrious citizen with many friends. His death brings deep sorrow to many who greatly respected him and who honored him as a true friend and good neighbor.
Mr. Shaker is survived by his wife; three daughters; two sons; seventeen grandchildren; four great grandchildren; two sisters, Mrs. Frank Smith and Mrs. Joe Benish; and on brother, Jake Shaker. He was preceded in death by one daughter, and five brothers, Joseph, Anton, Frank, James and Arthur Shaker.
