Clyde Butler was born March 13, 1922 to Wiley and Jeannette (Tanzer) Butler in Richmond, MO, and was a 1940 graduate of Richmond High School. He was a Navy veteran of World War II, serving from 1942 until 1946. On April 24, 1946 he married Nellie Mae Baugher. He retired from Armco Steel in 1982, following 35 years of service.

Clyde is preceded in death by his wife Nellie Butler, two brothers, Ronald Bruce Butler and Marvin Butler; and one sister, Barbara Innis. He is survived by daughters, Carolyn Tittle and Maralyn Mahshie; son Todd W. Butler; sisters, Marjorie Gordon and Thelma Shaw; brother, Carl Butler and seven grandchildren.
