Gladys Bailey Keel, 90, died Sunday, June 29, 2008 at Cypress Glen Retirement Community in Greenville. Mrs. Keel was born in Hartford, Conn. and was the daughter of the late Florence Davison Bailey and Hoffman Bailey, of New London and Quaker Hill, Conn. She was a graduate of the Joseph Lawrence School of Nursing in New London, Conn. and a homemaker. Mrs. Keel was a lifetime choir member of the Methodist Church in New London, Conn., Oak Grove Methodist in Chapanoke, Edenton St. Methodist in Raleigh, and Riverside Methodist in Elizabeth City, and Cokesbury United Methodist in Margate, Florida. She was preceded in death by her husband, William Harrington Keel; brother, Arthur Curtis Bailey; and a son, Donald Edward Keel. She is survived by her sons, William Harrington Keel II, of Coconut Creek, Fla., Thomas Arthur Keel and wife Frances, of Kinston, and Douglas Brian Keel and wife, Beth, of Huntsville, Ala.; daughter in-law, Carol B. Keel, of Rawlins, Wyo; granddaughters, Barbara Ketcham and husband, Jeff, of Cheyenne, Emily Beth Keel, of Huntersville, Ala., and Lesley Smith Mooney and husband, Steve, of Atlanta; grandsons, Kenneth Binns and wife, Lindy, of Cheyenne, Wyo., Edward Smith and wife, Melissa, of Raleigh, Michael Stuart Keel and wife, Erin, of Gaffney, S.C., Jess Ketcham and wife, Kelly, of Cheyenne, and Colby Brian Keel, of Huntsville, Ala.; great-granddaughters, Callie Keel, of Columbus, and Samantha Smith, of Raleigh; great-grandsons, Jace Ketcham, Jake Keel, both of Cheyenne, Wyo., Mitchell Smith, Forrest Peed, both of Raleigh.
