Sophia was born November 8, 1928 to Glenis Bussell Olberg and Joseph Olberg in Oklahoma City, OK. While she was very young, the family moved to New Llano, LA. Sophia graduated from Pickering High School and worked at several retail/grocery stores in Lake Charles, LA after she graduated from high school.
Her co-worker Edna Shroll Palermo introduced Sophia to her twin brother, Edward. Sophia and Edward (nickname Fritz) began dating and married in 1953. They first lived in Dequincy and after a year or so moved to Sulphur, LA.
They finished building a home in Sulphur in 1956 and the same year gave birth to one daughter, Nina Annette Shroll. Sophia and Fritz resided in Sulphur the rest of their lives.
Sophia was blessed to be able to be a full-time mother and volunteer at church activities. She and Fritz belonged to the First Baptist Church when they lived in Dequincy, the First Baptist Church when they lived in Sulphur, and then helped form Trinity Baptist Church in Sulphur. Sophia served as a Sunday School teacher, church clerk, and girls' missions leader while she was a member at Trinity.
She passed away at her home on April 13, 1993 as a result of cancer. Her funeral was conducted by her pastor, Wayne Elliot and she was buried at Mimosa Pines Cemetery not far from her mother's grave.
She was a wonderful wife, mother, and friend.
