David "Davey" Phillip Garner, 57, of Anderson, died July 6, 2008, at home after an extended illness.

He was born July 24, 1950, in Faulbush, Ky. He was a Vietnam veteran, who served in the U.S. Marines for four years and retired from General Motors. He enjoyed racing, hunting and fishing.

He is survived by his mother, Eva Garner of Anderson; significant other, Debbie Carter of Anderson; children, Shawn Garner and Nicole Nelson; five grandchildren; two brothers, John (wife, Claudette) Garner and Kevin Garner; several nieces and nephews; and special foster son, Allen.

He was preceded in death by his father, Paul Garner, and daughter, Dawn Garner.

Services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Brown-Butz-Diedring Funeral Home with the Rev. Ron Halbert officiating. Burial will be at East Maplewood Cemetery where military graveside rites will be conducted by the VFW Post 266 Honor Guard.
