US Congressman. After serving in World War II as a US Navy Lieutenant, he was elected to the Oklahoma State Senate, serving 1954 to 1972. In 1973, he was elected as a Democrat to the Ninety-third Congress, serving until 1975. He is the grand-nephew of Oklahoma actor Will Rogers and the first U.S. citizen to announce the Calgary Stampede and the Canadian Finals. He is an inductee of the National Cowboy and Western Heritage Museum, the ProRodeo, Oklahoma and the Oklahoma State University Alumni Halls of Fame. He is also the man who hired Reba McEntire to sing at the National Finals Rodeo in Oklahoma City. He died of cancer.
