HUNTSVILLE -- Funeral for James "Sam" White, 87, of Decatur will be Monday at 1 p.m. at Laughlin Funeral Home with the Rev. Don Stevens officiating.

Burial will be in Maple Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends tonight from 6 to 8 at the funeral home.

Mr. White died Friday, Jan. 19, 2001, at a Decatur nursing home. He was born in Oct. 9, 1913, in Athens, to Alvis and Mattie White. He was retired from Ryder Truck Line, where he worked for 20 years, and was a member of Central Baptist Church.

Survivors include his wife, Ann White; one son, Jim White of Decatur; one daughter, Gena Laster of Huntsville; and four grandchildren.
