James Bennett "Jim" Phillips, 82, passed away on 3 Mar 1951 in rural Chambers County, AL. Burial was at Mount Zion Baptist Church Cemetery, Tiller Crossroads, Chambers County, AL.

James Bennett Phillips was born on 26 Oct 1868 in Tallapoosa County, Alabama; the first born child to the late Lewis Cass Jefferson Phillips and Sarah Hannah Little Phillips. He married Olif Henderson Strother on 18 Dec 1890 in Tallapoosa County, Alabama.

He will always and forever be loved, remembered and missed by his descendants; Rest in Peace James Bennett Phillips.

In addition to his parents and his wife, he was predeceased in death by four children, James Grady Phillips, Annie Bell Phillips, Hartly Durham Phillips and Jessie Lee Phillips; three siblings, John Henry Phillips, William Thomas Phillips and Martha Lou Phillips Templeton.

Survivors included nine children, Mary Lou Phillips Johnson, Alonzo Isaiah Phillips, Henry Jefferson Phillips, Albert Thomas Phillips, William O'Landreth Phillips, Ralph Ray Phillips, Sara Lamerle Phillips Irvin, Thelma Edith Phillips Boone and Fred Herman Phillips, Sr; four siblings, Fannie Jane Phillips Pike, Matilda Phillips Pike, Willie Lavada Phillips Davis and Lewis Gregory Phillips; and many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
