Wes was born in Harrisburg, Kentucky to John Currey and Diana Unknown Currey. He was a Civil War Veteran and fought on the Confederate side. He married Mattie Lurton Gober on 28 Nov 1880, in Denton County, Texas. They moved to Oklahoma by 1898 when he homesteaded land near Pleasant Hill. They were parents of Muriel and Henry. At the time of his death he was the oldest citizen of Eldorado. He died at his home near Pleasant Hill.
