Ramsey, age 23, was enlisted in the Civil War as a private on April 2, 1862, by A. M. Truit, at Shelbyville, Texas, for 3 years or the war.
By 1870 T. P. Ramsey was married to Mary W., 28, and had the following children: Mary A., 8; George P., 5; and Cynthia, 2. Farm laborers John Tarlton, 21, John Wilson, 22, and Perry Booth, 19, (probably former slaves from the area) also are listed with the family. Other children include Daniel W., Sallie B.
