The 18th of May 1887, was a notable day in the history of
the McSwane family of this state. That day witnessed the
80th anniversary of the birthday of I. E,. McSwane Sr...,
the venerable head of the family. He choose to celebrate
the day by making barbeque, and inviting thereto his own family and relatives together with the family and relativesof L.W. Holder, E. P. Madden, Dan Thompson, and other invited guests. Accordingly the morning of the 19th, found a large number of people, relatives, friends, and oldtime neighborsof the old gentleman- assembled at the McSwane household. All the children who are living are present with the exception of one Mrs. Mason French who is in Arkansas,
